"Feminism" Showing Inequality in Itself
Good Morning Readers.
For last many days I was thinking to write in this topic, but it’s always better to study the topic before you speak anything about it. I was aware of the situation, but it took time to find out some solutions or remedies to it. Even being a girl, I think that feminism is going in a wrong direction. Actually Feminism is not wrong, it is the people who are misusing it, which is responsible for the adverse reaction of the society. Nowadays women are getting reserved quota in buses, trains, metro, jobs, and many other places. It may be started for a good cause, but the actual truth is that “The more the reservation, the more weaker we get.”
Women will become dependent and will get the habit of getting things without hard work.
Women will become dependent and will get the habit of getting things without hard work.
The very concept of women should get 50% reservation is mathematically wrong. Women should be treated equally to men I agree, but that amounting to give them 50% reservation appears to be right but they are so so wrong.
You all must be familiar with probability. So let’s figure it out taking an example of a fair coin. The probability that we get heads in ‘n’ trials is 0.5(or 50%). Now consider another scenario where we say that the heads has 50% reservation, in other words, out of ‘n’ trials, ‘n/2’ trials certainly have to be heads. Now the probability of getting heads is 0.75(or 75%) and that of tails is 0.25(or 25%).
Same thing will happen when you give 50% reservation to women. In the other 50% unreserved class 25% goes to women (assuming that the world is a fair place and because it is not, women will take at least 15% of the remaining), making women get a total of 75% and men get 25%. So technically what feminists are fighting for is not 50% reservation but something else.
In buses, the government has implemented 50% seats to women. It has many advantages, but many times I have seen men just standing while many seats reserved for women to be empty because how dare a man could sit on a seat reserved for ladies.I agree that not as many women travel on roads as men. Many Indian women are house wives or work from home, whereas all men are expected to work. In this situation shouldn’t the government actually see how many men v/s women actually travel in buses and divide the ratio equivalently?
It’s very critical to understand that “same” does not mean “equal”. The right approach for ensuring women get what they deserve would be to level the playing field, which means making sure benefits and duties are balanced out between the two genders and inculcating the right mentality among all the sections of society. This is hard work and will take a lot of time and that’s why many people want to take the shortcut by simply putting feminism reservations in place. But solving one problem by creating another ends up helping no one. So work done will become zero.
The gender discrimination is a similar problem like the poor and the rich. Suppose I don’t have money, I have to work hard, get educated and earn money rather than stealing from other’s money earned by hard work. So in the same way, the right way to create gender equality is by educating women and giving them equal opportunities, not by forcefully stealing seats from men and giving it to women in the name of reservation. Educate women so that they take it without reservation. Yes it’ll take a long time; I could steal and become rich in 10 minutes, or study and become in 10 years.
Let’s take another example of bikes. As we know bikes are mostly men driven. But when women also needed an easy means of transportation, they did not say that they need 50% reservation in sales of bikes, but they invented scooty. Scooty is a brilliant invention, which cause a lot of convenience to women but at the same time does not cause any inconvenience to men. I think these are the kinds of solutions women need to embrace to develop and bring joy to this world.
I know being a girl, you would not have expected these kind of thoughts from me but this is the bitter truth of our society. Lastly I’d just say this thing:
“Do not deny someone a position just because she’s a woman, but don’t just hand it over to her because she’s a woman either.”
